Applications are now open for community initiatives to promote organ and tissue donation within Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, multicultural and faith groups.
Organ and tissue donation saves lives. 4 out of 5 Australians say they support donation but only 1 in 3 are registered to donate.
With 1 in 3 Australians born overseas, communicating about organ and tissue donation to multicultural communities in a culturally safe way, is important to increasing organ and tissue donation rates in Australia.
Up to $400,000 in grants is now available as part of the Organ and Tissue Authority’s Community Awareness Grants program in 2024.
This year’s grants program support grass roots engagement that increases awareness about organ and tissue donation, increases the number of people registered on the Australian Organ Donor Registry (AODR) and encourages family discussion.
Applications are now open for community-based projects across two categories:
- Create digital content and resources – to produce fit for purpose digital content and resources that builds awareness about organ and tissue donation for CALD communities, multicultural and faith groups.
- Host a DonateLife Week 2024 event or activity – to run a community event or activity in support DonateLife Week 2024 for CALD communities, multicultural and faith groups.
