Greek Consulate Recognised: Bayside

Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall presented the Consul General of Greece in Sydney, Mr Georgios Skemperis, with a Certificate of Congratulations recognising the historic milestone of 100 years since the establishment of the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney.

The presentation, made at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 24 June, acknowledged the Consulate’s century of service to the Greek-Australian community and its significant contribution to strengthening the enduring ties between Greece and Australia.

For a century, the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney has served as a steadfast link between Greece and Australia, fostering friendship, cultural understanding and strong community connections.

This milestone recognises the Consulate’s enduring support of the Greek-Australian community and its significant contribution to preserving and celebrating Hellenic heritage across New South Wales.

Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said

“Bayside Council proudly acknowledges the profound contribution of Greek Australians to the cultural, social and economic life of our community and congratulates the Consulate General on this remarkable centenary,” Mayor Edward McDougall said.
