Today’s announcement that more businesses will be able to reopen their doors from 1 June is the signpost thousands of Victorian businesses needed to begin their recovery.
While adhering to the distancing restrictions, businesses in the entertainment sector, cultural venues and beauty and personal care services will be able to restart from 1 June.
The Andrews Government’s latest update provides the clarity that businesses in these sectors needed to plan for their restart.
Further easing of restrictions in sporting facilities from 22 June and increases in the number of patrons allowed in cafes and restaurants will see Victorians way of life return to some form of normality.
Overnight stays in Victoria will also resume from 1 June, meaning that regional economies will also get a boost from visitors spending at local businesses.

“Victorian Chamber members have told us all along that signposting the restrictions as they are to be eased will help them plan for the restart and the Andrews Government has today delivered what they called for.
“It is also encouraging for many businesses to have further clarity around more easing of restrictions on the 22 June if case numbers remain as controlled as they are now.
“This is our reward for adopting behaviours that were asked of us. Victorians have responded to the restrictions exceptionally well and that is what has put us in this enviable position of being able to ease restrictions.
“Businesses need notice to restart, to arrange their staffing and other requirements and this gives them a clear plan to work to.
“It is also encouraging that many of the restrictions being lifted will see the first tentative step towards regaining some normality.
“Victoria is known for its vibrant and diverse offerings and ensuring these key attractions can reopen their doors and survive the Covid-19 crisis will help us in the long-term recovery which is likely to take years.”
