Greening works in Tol Tol, a success

A native tree planting day held at Tol Tol in June has been declared a success.

Swan Hill Rural City Council staff assisted many volunteers to plant over 300 locally native trees and shrubs.

The tree planting was a joint project between Swan Hill Rural City Council and the local community to revegetate a section of road reserve on Tol Tol Road.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Acting Senior Environment Officer Sue Pretty said working with the community to redress past clearing practices was a positive step forward.

“As a community it’s important to recognise the value of native vegetation for the ecosystem services it provides.

“Not only do these areas provide homes for native plants and animals but food for our pollinators like bees,” she said.

Ms Pretty said Council is committed to protecting and enhancing our local environment and native vegetation and welcomes initiatives from the community that support this commitment.
