Grievous bodily harm charge at Airlie Beach

Queensland Police have charged a 21-year-old man after a 23-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries at Airlie Beach yesterday, August 14.

It will be alleged around 3:10am, the 21-year-old man and a group of other men approached the 23-year-old man and another man on Shute Harbour Road, before they entered a verbal altercation.

It will be further alleged the 21-year-old assaulted the 23-year-old, causing him to fall to the ground.

The 23-year-old Bungalow man has been airlifted to Townsville Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The 21-year-old Cannonvale man has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Bowen Magistrates Court today, August 15.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed or may have CCTV/dashcam vision of the Shute Harbour Road area around the time of the incident, to come forward.
