Safer Journeys For Melbourne’s South-east

The Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road Intersection Upgrade is open to vehicles, enhancing travel for residents of Clyde, Clyde North, Cranbourne North and Berwick in Melbourne’s south-east.

New traffic lights have replaced the roundabout, improving traffic flow for the 47,000 motorists who use the intersection each day.

The project also added approach lanes, upgraded bus infrastructure and new shared paths providing safer travel options for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Australian and Victorian governments equally funded the $83.5 million project, which created around 120 direct jobs and 297 indirect jobs during construction.

Major works have also been completed ahead of schedule at the nearby Clyde Road Upgrade, which widened the Princes Freeway overpass from 6 to 10 lanes, easing travel for the 30,000 vehicles that use the road each day.
