The latest iteration of the highly recognisable Speeding Shatters Your Excuses road safety campaign has launched with a focus on motorcycle riders.
Running across metropolitan and regional Western Australia, the campaign challenges the common excuses that drivers and riders use to justify speeding.
First launched in 2024, Speeding Shatters Your Excuses encourages drivers and riders to rethink their attitude to speed to speed to make safer choices.
Speed-related crashes account for a significant share of motorcycle rider deaths, with speed a suspected contributing factor in an average of 19 motorcycle fatalities each year over a five-year period.
The campaign targets higher-risk male drivers with a particular focus on those aged 25-34 and those aged 50-59.
A high-impact activation featuring a clear case filled with crashed motorcycles will be on display throughout the city including Riverside Drive from 1pm on 5 November as well as Forrest Chase from 10am until 3pm on 9 November.
It will then be towed to key locations in the Perth CBD to confront onlookers with the devastating consequences of risky riding.
This Road Safety Commission behaviour change campaign is funded through the State’s dedicated Road Trauma Trust Account which sees 100 per cent of safety camera fines allocated to projects and programs to save lives on WA roads.

As stated by Road Safety Minister Jessica Stojkovski:
“No motorcyclist expects their journey to end in tragedy, but speed continues to be a factor in far too many fatal and serious motorcycle crashes.
“This campaign features both the fatal and lifelong consequences of speeding, and
highlights how serious injuries can have a devastating impact on our community.
“Speeding shatters not just the rider’s life but all those around them from families, friends, and colleagues.
“The message is simple – there is no excuse for speeding.”
