Griffith City Council is responding to advice from NSW Health regarding the novel coronavirus COVID-19.

Council is committed to the community’s health and wellbeing and in preparation for cold and flu season is reminding locals, especially those with respiratory illness, to remain at home.

As a precautionary measure, Council recommends residents who are experiencing a cough and cold or flu-like symptoms stay at home and reconsider their need to enter Council facilities.

These facilities include, Griffith Aquatic Leisure Centre (GRALC), Griffith City Library, Westend Stadium, Griffith Visitor Information Centre, Griffith Regional Theatre and Art Gallery and Council’s Administration Office.

Council’s General Manager Brett Stonestreet said, “There are no confirmed cases of novel coronavirus COVID-19 in our Local Government Area at this stage, and accordingly all Council operated community facilities remain open with no changes to operations.”

“Social distancing and hand hygiene are considered the best protection against the virus.

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) and Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) encourages all members of the community to wash their hands with soap and water frequently and thoroughly (for 20 seconds) and stay away from crowds, sneeze or cough into your elbow, and stay home if sick.”
