Griffith City Library prepares for a very merry Christmas

Griffith City Library is on a mission to spread lots of Christmas cheer this year, with Santa’s letter box, set to be installed on Monday 16 November, just the start.

Children are invited to write and post their letters and wish-lists to Santa Claus early to ensure they receive a reply from the man in red before Christmas Day.

To take part, simply drop your letters to Santa in the special box provided and the Library will post it to the North Pole. Don’t forget to include your address so Santa can reply. Letters will be accepted until Saturday, 12 December 2020.

Meanwhile, Library elves have been busy decking the halls in readiness for the season. Visitors can take advantage of the stunning Christmas backdrop complete with a beautifully decorated tree, twinkling fairy lights, stockings hung by the fireplace and a bright red chair all set in front of a plush red curtain. The festive scene has been specially created so that families can capture their own Christmas photos.

Locals can also experience the joy of giving this December, with the Library a donation point for the Griffith Community Centre and Griffith Carevan ‘Giving Tree’.

Non-perishable items such as canned food, pasta, sauces, as well as personal care products such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo etc are perfect donations which will be given to local families in need this Christmas.

Donations will be collected until Saturday 12 December 2020, please do not wrap donations.

Griffith City Library Manager, Karen Tagliapietra, wishes all members a safe and happy festive season.

“On behalf of the team here at the Library, we want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas,” she said.

“It’s been a very different year for us and we’ve really missed seeing the many smiling faces who attend the Library.

“We are hoping in December that we will be able to bring back a few of our much-loved activities, even if we have to limit numbers and spread them out over a few days.

“Please keep an eye on our social media and website to find out what other things we have planned.”
