Griffith regional art Gallery presents original European masters

It is a very rare thing to view original artworks by the Great Masters outside of Europe, it’s an even rarer thing to see those works in a regional gallery.

People in Griffith are in for a unique treat when Griffith Regional Art Gallery presents Beguile – Original European Masters: from the 17th – 20th Century.

Featuring original prints created by some of the greatest European masters Beguile is a collection of 21 authenticated works including etchings, lithographs and serigraphs.

The Collection begins in the 17th century with works by the Old Masters: Rembrandt and Goya and continues with the Modern Masters: Renoir, Picasso, Chagall and Miro. It ends in the 20th century with Destino, a fascinating collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali.

Manager of Griffith Regional Art Gallery, Raina Savage said, “As well as their famous paintings and sculptures held in the great galleries of Europe, many of the European masters also created prints and works on paper. This exhibition allows students and art lovers in Griffith to view these original works and gain a unique insight into the broader practice of some of the world’s most famous artists.”

The works are from the renowned Lake View Collection of Bob and Kathy Dow of Wagga Wagga and contain extremely valuable original works by: Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt van Rijn, Marc Chagall, Francisco Goya, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Joan Miro, and Salvador Dali.
