Growing Community Involvement In Our Green Spaces

Wyndham City is calling for feedback on two new draft policies that aim to help residents get more involved in their local community gardens and parks.

Wyndham City’s Climate Futures and Environment portfolio holder Cr Robert Szatkowski said: “As a Council we recognise that being outdoors and gardening boosts wellbeing and builds social connection that contributes to our resilience as a community.”

“We have an active community of green-thumbs and wonderful open spaces that the community love.”

“It means that the community often reach out to ask how they could contribute to the maintenance and beautification of our important open spaces.”

“Our new Community Garden and Adopt-A-Park Policies highlight the best way in which our community involvement can take place and grow.”

“The Community Garden Policy encourages the creation of new gardens in suitable locations while also making sure they are managed responsibly.”
