Have your say on explosives regulations

Elise Archer,Minister for Workplace Safety and Consumer Affairs

WorkSafe Tasmania is inviting feedback from stakeholders and the community to inform a review of the Explosives Regulations 2012 (the Regulations).

Coupled with the Explosives Act 2012 (the Act) the Regulations provide the regulatory framework for the use, handling, storage, sale and supply of explosives in Tasmania.

Under the provisions of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992, the Regulations are required to be reviewed and remade before 31 December 2022.

Community and stakeholder feedback is invited on relevant issues, including the use of fireworks in Tasmania, and Tasmania’s in-principle agreement in 2018 to the harmonisation of explosives legislation nationally.

Further opportunity for input will be offered to stakeholders later in the year once any draft amendments to the Regulations are made.

To support the consultation process, an information paper explaining the areas of interest has been prepared and is available at www.justice.tas.gov.au/haveyoursay.

Submissions close on Monday, 30 May 2022, and I encourage everyone interested to review the information paper and have their say.
