The State Disaster Coordinator (SDC) Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski today authorised use of the emergency alert system to send a Health Alert to encourage Queenslanders in low vaccination areas to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The health alert will be distributed to people living in Local Government Areas (LGAs) with low vaccination rates in North West Queensland, Far North Queensland, Central Queensland and Southern Queensland, commencing today (November 4, 2021).
The Health Alert will be sent as a text message to mobile devices and will provide a link to the Queensland Government website with information on how and where to access vaccination.
As this method of sending out alerts is also used for potentially lifesaving information during other disasters, it is important Queenslanders do NOT block this number on their mobile telephone.
The Queensland borders will open on December 17 as outlined in the Queensland’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan To Unite Families.
It’s now more important than ever to protect yourself, your family and your community and get vaccinated against COVID-19.
If you have already been vaccinated, please encourage your family and friends to do so as well.
Anyone in the community aged 12 and over is eligible to receive a COVID-19 and can walk into any Queensland Health Vaccination Location- with or without a booking.
