Health system failing after 10 years of Liberal mismanagement

Tasmanian Labor

The
AMA’s Public Hospital Report Card has confirmed just how badly Tasmania’s
health system is performing after nearly 10 years under a Liberal Government.

The
report exposes Jeremy Rockliff’s mismanagement of the health system on a number
of fronts, including:

  1. The percentage of ED patients seen within four hours has declined every single year since the Liberals came to power.
  2. Tasmania has also been the worst performing state for the percentage of Category 2 surgery patients admitted within recommended timeframes every year single the Liberals came to power.
  3. Tasmania has had the longest wait times for surgery in the country in three of the last four years – more than a month longer than the best performing state
  4. In 2022 57,000 patients were waiting to see a specialist – including some with urgent referrals waiting over 880 days (nearly three years)

AMA
Tasmania President John Saul said Tasmania’s health system was “at a crucial
crossroads, and this time the wrong turn could have grave consequences”.

Meanwhile,
Jeremy Rockliff is focussing all his energy and all of Tasmania’s money on
building a billion-dollar taxpayer funded stadium that we don’t need and can’t
afford.

After 10 years of a Liberal Government, Tasmania’s health system is in ruins. If the Liberals haven’t fixed it after 10 years, they never will.
