Healthy dose of connection as Isaac celebrates seniors week

As COVID-19 regulations have seen many older people in self-isolation, never has it been more important this Queensland Seniors Week to ensure Isaac region residents remain connected.

As COVID-19 regulations have seen many older people in self-isolation, never has it been more important this Queensland Seniors Week to ensure Isaac region residents remain connected.

From tai chi, learning about nutrition to sharing stories and being creative through art, there’s something for all ages in Carmila, Clermont, Dysart, Glenden, Middlemount, Moranbah, Nebo and St Lawrence in mid-August.

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the significant week is a chance for all residents to recognise the knowledge, experience and value older Isaac residents bring to the region.

“I encourage all Isaac residents, regardless of their age, to take part in this year’s Queensland Seniors Week and enjoy the wonderful program of events and activities that make up this important celebration especially in these uncertain times,” she said.

“We will also be making some changes to ensure people can participate and engage in the safest way possible while acknowledging social distancing requirements. The health and safety of seniors and all our residents remains our utmost priority. Just remember to stay at home if you feel unwell or have a cough, fever, sore throat, fatigue or shortness of breath.”
