Helping locals connect and thrive with another year of grant support

Hume City Council is getting behind residents wanting to make a difference in our community, with new and existing grants on offer to support inclusive and engaging activities in Hume.

This week Council announced the opening of the 2024/25 Events Grants applications, inviting locals to take advantage of Hume’s growing tourism economy by contributing their own ideas to the events calendar.

While anyone planning an event – whether large, medium or small – is urged to apply before applications close, there’s a number of grants on offer that may suit your sport, charity, service or art.

Applying for grants is easy for local residents, businesses and community groups, and can be the financial shot in the arm you need for the short term, or help you realise a long-held goal.

The list of Council’s grant and funding support reaches far and wide, but for inspiration here are just some of the initiatives we’re supporting:

Sports Aid Grants:

In July 2023 we announced that we were keeping dreams alive by awarding $8,400 in grant funding for 17 young Hume City residents, used to assist with competition and other event related expenses.

Do you need equipment or facility funding, participation costs or some volunteer help? Check your eligibility and apply.

Community Operational Grants:

We currently have more than 90 local community groups who are receiving Annual Community Grants for projects in 2024.

These grants support the day-to-day operational activities such as insurance costs, venue hire, or ongoing catering for community groups who are working on ongoing projects that help improve health, wellbeing and connection in the community. Check your eligibility and apply.

Year Round Grants:

Hume City Council offers a number of grant categories that are available all year round (or until funds are exhausted). Successful grants so far Quick Response Grants for 2023-2024 have been awarded to:

Australian Multicultural Community Centre – $1,000

Roxburgh Magpies Basketball Club – $1,000

Greek Senior Citizen Club of The Gladstone Park & Tullamarine – $1,000

Oz Christ Care Community Inc. – $1,000

So, if you’ve got an idea, an awareness issue or a celebration and need some help getting it off the ground, head to our website and find out what is available to you.
