Helping Royal Children’s Hospital Keep Caring For Our Kids

  • Premier

The Victorian Government will provide $8.6 million to this year’s Good Friday Appeal, helping the much-loved appeal raise $18.2 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), just ahead of what it raised in 2019.

The Royal Children’s Hospital is the best children’s hospital anywhere in the world and as it celebrates its 150th year, this support will help ensure it can continue to provide sick kids the best possible care.

Victorians are always so generous, but we know that many are doing it tough because of the unprecedented and devastating impacts of coronavirus on jobs, businesses and the economy. Understandably, they are simply not able to donate as much as they have in previous years.

So on behalf of all Victorians, the Government is proud to step in so the RCH isn’t left millions of dollars worse off, just at a time when our health system needs support more than ever.

This funding will help ensure the Royal Children’s can continue to provide sick kids the best possible care.

It builds on the $1.9 billion the Government has invested in Victoria’s health system to ensure we have the staff, equipment and capacity it needs to care for Victorians as demand increases due to coronavirus.

As stated by Premier Daniel Andrews

“Victorians always dig deep for the Good Friday Appeal – but the impact of coronavirus and the bushfires before that has made it harder than usual for families to donate as much as they would like.”

“We can’t have the kids go without – so the Government is stepping in to fund the gap between what was raised last year and what has been raised this year.”

“This contribution is made on behalf of all Victorians and is a small way of saying thank you to all the nurses, doctors, healthcare workers, and support staff who work so hard, every day to care for our kids when they need it most.”
