A 47 year old man has been charged with high range drink driving and disqualified for two years on the spot after being intercepted by police yesterday.
At 4:30pm on Thursday 6 March 2023 Tasmania Police received a call from a member of the public regarding the driving behaviour of a White Holden Utility on the Midland Highway at Tunbridge. As a result, a Highway Patrol Unit detected the vehicle turning from the Midland Highway onto Mudwalls Road at 4:50pm.
Police intercepted the vehicle, with the 47 year old male driver being taken to the Oatlands Police Station for a breath analysis and had a reading of 0.179. He was charged and disqualified from driving on the spot for two years, then ordered to appear in court at a later date.
“It is really disappointing that a high range drink driver was on a major highway at the very beginning of a long weekend,” said Sergeant Steve Dine of Southern Road Policing Services.
“Keeping everyone safe on our roads is a mission for the whole community – not just police.”
