As stated by Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Darvill:
A homicide investigation has been launched after the death of a man in Onehunga last night.
Police were called about 9.45pm to a Selwyn Road address after a report of a man having sustained a gunshot wound.
Emergency services attended and first aid was administered, however he died at the scene.
Enquiries are now underway to establish the full circumstances of what has occurred.
A scene guard has been in place overnight, and a scene examination will commence this morning.
