Road Policing North impounded two vehicles overnight after they were detected traveling at more than 70km/h above the speed limit.
About 11.20pm, officers were on patrol in Ocean Reef when it will be alleged they detected a black Holden Cruze and a blue Ford Falcon travelling side-by-side on Hodges Drive at 141km/h in a 70km/h speed zone.
It’s believed the vehicles had recently travelled from Ocean Reef Boat Harbour.
A 17-year-old male juvenile and an 18-year-old man both had their vehicles impounded for 28 days and will be charged by summons with Reckless Driving.
A short time later, about 11.40pm, officers attended a crash on Hodges Drive after the driver of a white Volvo sedan lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a speed sign.
A 27-year-old male passenger was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for medical treatment. The 23-year-old male driver was uninjured.
Officer in Charge of Hillarys Police Station A/Inspector Adrian Fuller said hoon driving has no place in the community.
“We will not tolerate these unsafe driving behaviours, or people who want turn public roads into their own personal drag strip or racetrack,” A/Inspector Fuller said.
“This nature of offending puts other road users, as well as the offending drivers themselves, at serious risk of injury or death.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses hoon driving or dangerous driving in the community to report that activity to police.”
