Hoons and dirt bike riders arrested across Melbourne

North West Metro Region police have charged two males this week following illegal hoon meets and unregistered dirt bike riding in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

The arrests come as part of Operation Achilles, the state-wide operation targeting illegal hoon driving across the state.

Highway patrol officers and local police from the North West Metro Region executed two search warrants this week at different addresses in Reservoir, arresting two males.

A 24-year-old Reservoir male was arrested on Tuesday in relation to an investigation into multiple illegal hoon meets across Epping and Thomastown.

He was subsequently charged with reckless conduct endangering persons, driving in a dangerous manner and improper use of a motor vehicle. He was bailed to appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 15 March.

On Wednesday, police arrested a 20-year-old Reservoir male in relation to an investigation into unregistered dirt bike riding in the Hume area.

He was charged with reckless conduct endangering persons, driving in a dangerous manner, unlicensed driving and driving an unregistered vehicle. He was bailed to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 24 May.
