The Housing Dashboard has been strengthened, delivering clearer information on the Tasmanian Government’s 10,000 social and affordable homes target.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said the new Dashboard provides improved visibility of projects at each stage of delivery, presents information in a simpler format, and shows progress as projects move towards completion.
“The construction pipeline shows the progression of homes through planning, build and completion stages, while the land pipeline reflects subdivision activity and lots prepared for future development,” Minister Vincent said.
“This provides an enhanced view of housing delivery, recognising land development and construction of homes operate as separate, but complementary, parts of the system.
“These new transparency measures provide even more information to Tasmanians about our Government’s delivery of social and affordable homes across the State.”
The changes update how homes are counted towards the 10,000 target, with only new homes and land sold where a new home is built within two years included.
Newly constructed homes supported through the First Home Owner Grant will now count towards the target, recognising the important role these new homes play in increasing Tasmania’s housing supply and helping more Tasmanians into home ownership.
The provision of crisis accommodation, existing homes secured under the Private Rental Incentive and Family Violence Rapid Rehousing Programs and existing homes purchased through the MyHome shared equity are not counted in the total. Instead, these housing outcomes are reflected in the Dashboard as part of the Government’s additional efforts.
This new design represents the first stage of a broader program of enhancements to the Housing Dashboard.
During this transition, any data not yet incorporated into the new Dashboard will be made available through supplementary reporting.
