The Mornington Peninsula Human Rights Group is hosting the 2020 Human Rights Oration next month with lawyer Lee Carnie as the special guest speaker.

Lee is a human rights lawyer and social justice advocate. Lee currently works as the Strategic Advocacy and Policy Manager in Civil Justice at Victoria Legal Aid, working on a range of issues including mental health, disability, economic inequality, anti-discrimination and migration.

Lee previously worked as the Director of Legal Advocacy at Equality Australia, Australia’s first national LGBTIQ+ legal advocacy and campaigning NGO, and as a Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, with a focus on building the national campaign for an Australian Charter of Human Rights.

The community is invited to hear Lee’s personal experiences as a frontline human rights lawyer and analysis of pressing systemic issues we face as a society.
