Hundreds of free public car spaces are now available at the Ballarat Base Hospital for locals, visitors and workers as part of the Allan Labor Government’s ongoing investment in the thriving regional town.
Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney today joined representatives from Grampians Health to open 400 new public car spaces at the Ballarat Base Hospital – all free to park at.
The extension to the existing hospital car park has added four new levels of parking, which brings the total number of parks to almost 800 across eight levels.
Roughly 50 jobs were created during construction of the multi-level car park, with local materials used. New lifts have also been installed to make the car park more accessible.
The Labor Government is supporting the creation of 2,000 new car parks – including almost 1,400 free spaces – in and around the Ballarat CBD by 2026, making it easier for locals to park near where they want to go.
The 400 new car spaces at Ballarat Base Hospital brings the town one step closer to 2,000 new spots.
Recently 150 new spots have been created in Ballarat’s CBD and another 900 were made possible through the Ballarat Station Redevelopment and the Council’s Smarter Car Parking Program. A further 120 spaces will be made available for public use underneath the Ballarat GovHub from 2025.
The Allan Labor Government continues to invest in Ballarat with the $10 million restoration of Her Majesty’s Theatre and more than $600 million to improve health facilities and services as part of the Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment.
Further funding to make Ballarat an even better place to live, work and visit is being delivered through the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program and Council Support Package.
It’s part of a record $45 billion investment over the past decade in projects and programs to support regional and rural Victoria grow and thrive, creating local jobs and delivering the projects and infrastructure that matter to local communities.
