Hunt continues for serial train sex predator

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man performed explicit sexual acts on city-bound trains in March.

The first incident occurred on a city-bound Hurstbridge line train about 7.20pm on 3 March.

Investigators have been told the man, who boarded the train at Greensborough, sat opposite a 22-year-old woman who boarded the train at Heidelberg and performed a sexual act before disembarking the train at Flinders Railway Station.

The second incident occurred after the same man boarded a city-bound train at Lara Railway Station about 10.10pm on 7 March.

On this occasion the man sat next to a 29-year-old woman and performed a sexual act before disembarking the train at Southern Cross Railway Station.

Detectives believe the man was responsible for both incidents.

On both occasions the offender was wearing a red baseball cap with a Sydney Swans logo, grey zip-up hooded jumper, black shorts and dark grey runners.

Detectives have released images and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, with a slim build and short fair hair.

Anyone who recognises the man or has information regarding the incidents are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link
