Hurstbridge Line Duplication ramps up

Vic Department of Transport

Hurstbridge train tracks at Greensborough

Over the past weekend, crews on the Hurstbridge Line Duplication got on with drainage, retaining wall construction, Plenty River Bridge works, piling, rail signalling and earthworks.

During a recent summer blitz, works linked to the upgrade took place at Flinders Street Station and near Victoria Park and Clifton Hill Stations, as well as in Alphington – including installation of underground power and signalling equipment, track work and piling to reinforce the soil.

Our crews also continued work along the rail corridor at Greensborough, Montmorency, Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen.

The project will deliver more train services, less crowding on peak trains and better connections to public transport in Melbourne’s north-east. It features 2 new stations to provide improved weather protection, better and safer connections to the surrounding area and improved car parking.

Diamond Creek Station platform 2 will also be upgraded and a new pedestrian crossing is being built behind Diamond Valley College.

The rescoped project will have trains running on the duplicated tracks in mid 2023.

We look forward to sharing more information with the community as our works progress.
