The light installation will project the faces of stolen Generation survivors onto the south facing facade.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty welcomed the return of the installation and said it raises an important opportunity to reflect, remember and learn.
“Council is committed to creating a connected city, where everyone can participate and feel a sense of belonging,” Mayor Docherty said.
“National Sorry Day is an opportunity for us to acknowledge our past and reflect on how we all have a role to play in the healing process. The light installation is great way of sparking conversation.”
The installation can be viewed by the public on Friday night 26 May from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.
National Sorry Day is a day that remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, they are known as the Stolen Generation.
