Hundreds of Territory high schools students are putting their innovative and entrepreneurial skills to the test at the inaugural Innovation Zone.

The Innovation Zone is an interactive two-day festival of innovation, entrepreneurship and STEM tailored to high school students in years 7 – 12 which began today.

Participants from the greater Darwin region are attending a series of entrepreneurial, innovative and STEM workshops and come away with the skills to turn digital ideas into a business.

Students are learning VR, coding and design of 3D spaces through Merge Cube, creating video games and discovering more about eSports.

Participants will also have an opportunity to explore a variety of innovative career fields throughout the event with Engineers Australia, Australian Computer Society, Questacon and NT Farmers participating in the Innovation Career Zone.

The Innovation Zone is delivered by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade in partnership with the Young Change Agents, a social enterprise that empowers youth to develop solutions through an entrepreneurial lens.
