International Education Leaders To Meet Facing An Uncertain Outlook

Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA)

Facing policy challenges brought about by the Australian Government’s new migration strategy, leaders from the independent skills training and higher education sector will meet to discuss strategies to deliver quality student outcomes. The forum is the ITEC24 International Education Symposium to be convened on 5 June 2024 at the Gold Coast by the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA).

“The ITEC24 International Education Symposium will provide leaders from across the sector with strategic insights into the opportunities and risks for institutions committed to quality that support international students,” said Troy Williams, ITECA Chief Executive.

The ITEC24 International Education Symposium has a strategic focus. It will foster a conversation on how critical Australian Government frameworks, such as the new migration and revised strategies for the international education sector, will impact the tertiary education providers.

“There is a concern across the independent skills training and higher education sectors that the direction of government policy is unaccommodating regarding their work in international education. The conversations at the symposium will unpack that and help bring about what the future holds for providers with a commitment to the quality provision of tertiary education,” Mr Williams said.

ITECA is confident that independent international education providers committed to quality will be able to operate sustainably and grow in the years ahead. The conversations at the ITEC24 International Education Symposium will explore new opportunities.

“The Australian Government is strongly committed to developing international education links with India, and there is considerable potential in this enormous and growing market. The conversation about the opportunities is sure to interest skills training and higher education providers committed to quality,” Mr Williams said.

Independent skills training and higher education providers achieve some of the best outcomes in surveys of student satisfaction, something that will be unpacked at the ITEC24 International Education Symposium.

“Delegates will hear from overseas students at the symposium about what they value in an Australian education. We’ll be having a conversation about their study experience and the support mechanisms that independent tertiary education providers offer, which are valued,” Mr Williams said.

The ITEC24 International Education Symposium will be held on 5 June 2024 at the QT Surfers Paradise, and bookings can be made online at www.iteca.edu.au.
