Minister for Police and Corrective Services and Minister for Fire and Emergency Services the Honourable Mark Ryan MP today joined Acting Assistant Commissioner Mark Kelly for the largest induction of interstate officers in the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
Acting Assistant Commissioner Kelly said 24 new officers would now call Queensland home, as they joined or returned to the QPS after serving in various policing jurisdictions across Australia and New Zealand.
“Having these officers join our ranks is an asset to the QPS, as they bring with them knowledge and policing experience that will be drawn upon as they protect communities across the state,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Kelly said.
“Each officer graduates today from the Police Abridged Competency Education (PACE) program which recognises their prior experience in a tailored 12-week training program.
“Joining us from careers in New Zealand Police, Northern Territory Police, Victoria Police, Australian Federal Police, we also have some returning Queensland Police members who we welcome back into our ranks.
“As a Service, we continue to look for people with diverse backgrounds and from walks of life that reflect the community we serve, and I am excited to see what these officers can bring to our organisation.”
Minister Ryan said the officers had a rewarding career ahead of them protecting and serving our state as the newest members of the QPS.
“I would like to welcome these new officers to Queensland today, both those who are relocating and those who are coming back into our ranks. There really is no better state to enter a career in policing,” Minister Ryan said.
“Each of these 24 officers will enjoy a rewarding career in the QPS as they head out to police the beautiful cities, regions and remote areas of our state.
“The Police Abridged Competency Education Program has allowed them to enhance their existing experience in an abridged training course which prepares them to serve and protect our communities.”
