Investing in construction industry’s future leaders

Scholarship recipient and engineering student, Keshavan ‘Kesh’ Kiritharan

Residential property developer Dahua Group is continuing its investment in the construction industry’s future leaders by providing more students with scholarships at Western Sydney University.

Dahua Group has donated six scholarships to students studying a Bachelor of Planning, a Bachelor of Construction Management, or a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil Engineering).

Eric Li, CEO of Dahua Group, NSW & Qld comments, “Dahua Group is focused on social responsibility and giving back in the areas where we develop communities. The company has a strong pipeline of projects along the eastern seaboard. Two major masterplanned projects – New Breeze and Menangle Park are located in South Western Sydney, which was a key decision in choosing to partner with Western Sydney University.

“Education is one of the most significant investments a person can make in securing a prosperous future. Supporting initiatives that focus on quality education such as scholarships is an ideal way to help both individuals and the community.”

He added, “Western Sydney University has an enviable reputation for delivering graduates that are highly skilled and valuable assets in the construction industry. Billions of dollars are being injected into the Western Sydney region, with much of the spend on major infrastructure projects, which is creating demand for qualified graduates.”

Professor Simeon Simoff, Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics at Western Sydney University, welcomed Dahua Group’s commitment to the next generation of building professionals.

The building industry is continually evolving and support through scholarships and access to mentors allows our students to graduate as skilled, well-connected individuals who understand the challenges and opportunities within the industry and their impact on the broader community,” said Professor Simoff.

Ludmila Papusheva, Western Sydney University graduate and HR Manager at Dahua Group said, “The scholarships recognises academic excellence and provides support to students with genuine needs to help them better focus on their studies. In addition to this program, we are also exploring with the university other ways to assist and engage future talent through work placement or internship programs as part of an ongoing relationship.”

Keshavan ‘Kesh’ Kiritharan, is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) – Civil at Western Sydney University and was awarded one of the Dahua Group scholarships. He graduates in 2020.

He said, “Academically, the scholarship provided me with the motivation to continue working hard and improve each semester. Personally, it has validated the hard work I have put in over the past year and will open up opportunities for me in terms of job prospects when I graduate as it is a key point of difference on my resume, allowing me to stand out.”
