Investing in Culture and Local Jobs: Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre Design Tender Open

Upgrades to the Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre in Tennant Creek are progressing with the design tender release as part of the Territory Labor Government’s $30 million Arts Trail Regional Gallery Extension Program.

The $8 million investment in the Centre will enhance the entrance area, gallery, artist studios, and retail and office spaces. It will include art storage and preparation areas and upgrades to landscaping, performance areas and accessible pathways.

This project is progressing in consultation with Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation and will support 44 jobs, providing a boost to the local economy and more opportunities for local artists.

With approved COVID-19 venue safety plans in place, the Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre will further showcase the Aboriginal art and culture of the region and provide more engaging experiences for visitors.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, businesses tendering for the design work at the Centre can view the site remotely through a virtual 3D fly-through.

The $30 million Arts Trail Regional Gallery Extension Program is being rolled out across Tennant Creek, Katherine and Arnhem Land following targeted consultation.

The Territory Labor Government continues to invest in our regions, boosting economic growth across the Territory’s art and cultural sectors and creating jobs in regional areas.
