IPART appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Chair of the NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART), Dr Paul Paterson, has announced the appointment of Liz Livingstone as the new IPART CEO with effect from Monday 22 July 2019.
Dr Paterson said Liz’s appointment followed a competitive recruitment process which attracted strong interest from applicants both from within the NSW public sector and more broadly.
“Liz’s leadership capabilities and breadth of experience will serve IPART well during a period of increasingly diverse and challenging work,” Dr Paterson said.
“On behalf of the other Tribunal members Ed Willett and Deborah Cope, I would like to congratulate Liz and welcome her to her new role.”
Ms Livingstone comes to IPART from the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment where she is currently Acting Deputy Secretary Policy, Strategy and Science. She was previously the Deputy Secretary for Lands and Water at the former NSW Department of Industry, and worked across regional policy, resources and land use at the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet.
Her appointment marks her return to IPART where she worked as a Senior Analyst early in her career.
Ms Livingstone said is she pleased to be joining IPART at a time when transparent, independent and robust decision-making has never been more valuable.
“I am proud to lead the talented and capable group of professionals who make up IPART,” she said.
“I look forward to continuing IPART’s legacy of delivering high-quality decisions and advice, and keeping regulated businesses accountable to protect and promote the ongoing interests of the taxpayers and citizens of NSW.”
