Ipswich police pounce on stolen puppy

Officers have reunited a young rottweiler puppy with his rightful owner after he was taken from an Ipswich backyard and missing for more than a month.

Eleven-week old ‘Buddy’ (pictured) was reported stolen from his Redbank Plains property on March 3 after owners noticed the back fence damaged.

Following social media appeals from Buddy’s owners, enquiries from Springfield police officers and a tip-off from a member of the public, Buddy was located at a residence in Redbank Plains.

As Buddy had been micro-chipped, police were easily able to confirm the puppy’s identity with the assistance of a local vet.

Despite having some chewing gum stuck in his fur, Buddy’s health was given the all-clear and officers returned him to his very relieved owners on Friday, April 10 in time for Easter.

Investigations into the theft are ongoing.
