It’s OK on Macleay – Councillors support Pride month

Kempsey Shire Council

Councillors took the opportunity to mark Pride month and celebrate the It’s OK on the Macleay message by wearing rainbow t-shirts to the June Council meeting.

Joined by General Manager Craig Milburn and Director Michael Jackson in their colourful finery, Councillors wanted to show their support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTQI+) people here in the Macleay.

Every June, Pride Month celebrates the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community. It’s a time to reflect on just how far civil rights have progressed in half a century and an opportunity to protest discrimination and violence.

It’s OK on the Macleay is a family friendly event celebrating diversity in a safe and inclusive setting. Run by local charity Baylin’s Gift, It’s OK on the Macleay will be held on Sunday September 24 at Riverside Park, Kempsey.
