The Northern Territory Police Force holds concerns for the welfare of a 60-year-old man who is believed to have been swept away in floodwater near Santa Teresa.
Around 6:50am this morning, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that around 7pm yesterday evening the man had been swept off a vehicle that had become stuck in floodwater near Phillipson Bore Road.
The vehicle contained a man and a woman and had become stuck in a creek, forcing the two occupants to seek refuge on the roof. The man was subsequently swept off the roof and has not been seen since.
The woman was able to walk back to Santa Teresa where she reported him missing to police this morning.
The Search and Rescue Section has been deployed to search for the man, including resources from Santa Teresa and Alice Springs Police Stations, along with drone support and police divers.
Police hold concerns for his welfare and anyone who may have seen or heard from him is urged to contact police on 131 444.
