Fifteen Griffith businesses will receive support through the Small Business Financial Assistance Grant Program, following strong demand from the local business community.
The program, delivered by Griffith City Council and Griffith Business Chamber, was oversubscribed, highlighting the enthusiasm, innovation and ambition of local business owners seeking to invest in and grow their businesses.
Griffith City Council’s Economic Development Coordinator worked closely with applicants throughout the process, with almost every applicant taking the opportunity to seek guidance on their application, business planning and future goals.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran, said the grant program was about more than financial support.
“This program provided a valuable opportunity to connect directly with local business owners, hear their ideas and better understand the challenges and opportunities they face,” Councillor Curran said.
“The conversations were incredibly inspiring and showcased the passion, creativity and determination that exist within Griffith’s business community.”
Applications were assessed against the program’s eligibility criteria and evaluation matrix by a joint panel comprising Griffith City Council and Chamber representatives.
Following the assessment process, 15 businesses were recommended to receive joint funding from Council and the Griffith Business Chamber, with grants of up to $2,500 available under the program.
Councillor Curran said Council looks forward to seeing the successful projects come to life and encouraged all local business owners to reach out for support.
“While not every application could be funded, Council’s Economic Development team remains available to assist any Griffith business seeking advice, guidance or support to develop their ideas and plans for the future.”
