Early works have kicked off at Glen Huntly to remove 2 dangerous and congested level crossings at Neerim Road and Glen Huntly Road by lowering the Frankston Line into a 1km trench and creating a striking new Glenhuntly Station.
We’ll work 24/7 from Monday 21 February to Sunday 27 February, including relocating services from within the rail corridor, further soil examinations and setting up fencing ahead of major works starting in the middle of the year.
Disruptions will affect trains, trams and vehicles from 8.30pm Friday 25 February to last train service Sunday 27 February.

The new Glenhuntly Station will feature a vibrant forecourt with landscaping and seating, leading to a new tram stop in front of the station to make it easier for commuters to connect to tram and train services.
Other project features include stairs and lifts down to the station platforms, new car parking including 6 disability bays and 3 kiss-and-ride bays, secure bike cages, lighting and CCTV cameras throughout the precinct and a shared path connecting Ormond and Caulfield.
A new pocket park will also open on 700 square meters of land next to the rail line on Neerim Road, featuring shady trees and seating for the community to enjoy.
The removal of the 2 level crossings at Glen Huntly is part of the Victorian Government’s $4 billion Big Build investment in the Frankston Line to remove 20 level crossings and build 13 new stations by 2025.
Once the 2 Glen Huntly crossings are gone for good, the Frankston Line will be level crossing free between Flinders Street and Moorabbin Station.
