JACET Charges – Northern Territory

Northern Territory Police have charged a 45-year-old man with child exploitation offences.

On Monday 18 September 2023, The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) apprehended the man driving a vehicle in Winnellie.

It is alleged that between the period of 25 August 2023 and 18 September 2023 the man communicated with a person who he believed to be a child under 16 for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Procure child under 16 for sexual activity
  • Transmit indecent communication to child under 16

He was further remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 14 November 2023.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Scott Russell said “NT Police continues to urge parents to ensure their children’s online safety by reviewing their children’s online activity and the social media platforms that they use.

“This type of behaviour is abhorrent and JACET remains committed to disrupting and charging anyone who participants in it.”
