Jacinta Allan loses control of Melbourne Airport Rail project

The Melbourne Airport Rail project continues to be engulfed by chaos as the Allan Government intensifies its dispute with Melbourne Airport.

After five years and at least $630 million spent on the project, it’s no closer to completion after the Federal Government was forced to appoint an independent negotiator to try to resolve the dispute with the Allan Government.

Premier Jacinta Allan continues to double down on Melbourne Airport, blaming it for stalling the project.

Leader of the Opposition, John Pesutto, said: “Jacinta Allan has lost control of Victoria’s major projects which continue to be plagued by cost blow outs and delays.

“Instead of trying to sort out the mess, the Premier wants to pick a fight with Melbourne Airport and blame others for her own incompetence. It raises questions about whether she simply wants to walk away from the project.”

Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, David Southwick, said: “After five years, Jacinta Allan has been unable to secure agreement to build a train line to the airport.

“With more than $30 billion in major project cost blowouts and many of major projects cancelled, can Labor be trusted to ever deliver an Airport Rail?”
