SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – With nominations closing on Friday 2 October, young Australian musicians, music teachers and schools are being urged to get their entries in for the Next Up Music Awards (NUMAs) – an initiative dedicated to discovering, recognising and supporting the next generation of Australian music talent.
Adding his voice to the campaign, Australian music icon Jimmy Barnes has thrown his support behind the initiative, recording a special video message encouraging young artists to take the opportunity and nominate.

“I joined Cold Chisel when I was 16 years old and since then music has taken me all over the world. If you are young and making music now, this could be the start of something big for you too, so head over to the Next Up Music Awards website to nominate yourself, a teacher or even your school – get it done!” Said, Jimmy Barnes.
The Next Up Music Awards provide a national platform for emerging young artists while also recognising the teachers and schools helping to nurture Australia’s future music industry.
The Awards are supported by an extraordinary group of Australian artists and industry leaders, with Sia and Troye Sivan as Patrons, alongside Eddie Perfect, who recently joined as Patron of the Music Theatre category. The Youth Patrons are led by Ruby Rodgers.
