Jimmy Barnes surprise performances in Melbourne’s CBD

Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes thrilled fans with surprise live performances in Melbourne’s CBD tonight.

Jimmy Barnes performed at the Evan Walker Bridge in Southbank at 6:00pm and outside the GPO in Bourke Street Mall at 6:45pm.

The surprise performances will help support local shops, restaurants, cafes and bars recovering from the impact of COVID-19.

The performances are the result of a partnership between the Victorian Government, Mushroom Group and the City of Melbourne through the $100 million Melbourne City Recovery Fund.

Jimmy Barnes has had more number ones in Australia than any other artist in ARIA Chart history, surpassing Madonna and U2’s eleven chart toppers.

Quotes attributable to the Lord Mayor Sally Capp

“This is about bringing the buzz back to Melbourne. Our city is the live music capital of the world and investing in this industry helps local artists and to support the thousands of people work in bars, pubs, restaurants and theatres.

“My message to all Victorians is don’t miss out. Come into the city to be surprised and delighted.”
