A free community event is being held at Jingili Playground on Sunday 22 September from 9am-12noon, as part of consultation for the $1.1M upgrade to this much loved and used facility.
The Family Fun Day will include a slip and slide jumping castle, disco, the Fun Bus and activities MC’d by Amy Hetherington and her Team.
Plans for the Jingili Regional Playground Upgrade include an inclusive playground that caters for all abilities, shade replacement, Wi-Fi, public art and a new fully accessible toilet facility. Variety the children’s charity NT is providing $60k toward the project.
“I want as many members of the public as possible to provide us with feedback,” said Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis “and we especially want to hear from the children themselves – on what equipment they would like to see installed at the playground.”
“We want the new playground to provide opportunities for children to play together regardless of abilities – to share the same equipment, or play side by side on modified equipment.”
“Feedback and ideas will help make Jingili Regional Playground the ‘playground of choice’ for children with a disability, their parents and carers and a better space for the entire community,” Lord Mayor concluded.
For those unable to make the event on 22 September, a second Family Fun Day will be held on Wednesday 2 October, also from 9am-12noon.
Consultation includes a fun and interactive questionnaire tailored for children, where they can nominate what they do and don’t want to see in the new playground.
Consultation finishes on 13 October and the project is expected to be completed this financial year.
