Job service to support employment needs of disability sector

  • New NDIS Job Matching Service now available to ensure a pipeline of skilled workers for the disability services sector
  • National Disability Services (NDS) awarded contract to provide the service
  • Service will assist people into jobs and improve services to clients
  • NDIS creating approximately 9,600 jobs in WA’s disability sector
  • A new NDIS Job Matching Service will be rolled out over the next few months to support the fast-growing disability sector address skills and recruitment needs while connecting jobseekers with employment opportunities.

NDS, an industry body representing non-government disability service providers, will work with NDIS service providers to identify their workforce needs, as well as Jobs and Skills Centres and other employment services to connect jobseekers with jobs.

The service will also support NDIS service providers to navigate the vocational education and training (VET) sector to increase skilled workers in the industry.

Jobseekers interested in working in disability services will be connected with quality VET options.

NDS will also seek to engage and skill people with disability for careers in disability services.

Other services will include identifying courses and training opportunities for existing workers to improve skills and help employers access available incentives.

The NDIS Job Matching Service was developed with extensive industry consultation including the State Training Board’s Social Assistance and Allied Health Workforce Steering Committee.

In addition to the NDIS Job Matching Service, the State Government recently expanded the Lower fees, local skills initiative.

Half price courses include the Certificate II in Introduction to Disability Care, the Certificate III in Individual Support and the Certificate IV in Disability.
