A free swimming and water safety program will be offered at two City of Logan pools this September school holidays to encourage families to refresh their skills in time for summer.

Kids Alive Do the Five will offer local children aged 4 months to 16 years the opportunity to participate in a week-long swimming and water safety class.

The program will be held at the Logan North Aquatic Centre and Beenleigh Aquatic Centre from September 25 to 29.

Kids Alive Do the Five was developed by well-known swim coach and water safety educator, Laurie Lawrence, and focuses on providing children with the essential water safety skills to thrive in the water.

Lifestyle Committee Chair Cr Tony Hall said that the free program, held in indoor heated pools, is the perfect opportunity for kids to get back in the water ahead of warmer weather.

“We often see participation in water safety and swimming lessons decrease over the cooler months,” Cr Hall said.

“The Kids Alive Do the Five the program is a great no-cost opportunity to freshen up your child’s swimming and water safety knowledge and skills ahead of the summer fun.”

Places are limited and registrations are essential. To enrol, enquire or learn more about the program, visit the Logan Leisure Centres website.
