Justine Glover calls it day

Darwin City Council

Justine Glover has resigned as a City of Darwin Councillor after almost eight years in the role.

Lord Mayor, Kon Vatskalis thanks Ms Glover the for the effort she put into her role as a councillor.

“I had the pleasure of working closely with Justine in the past five years,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“Justine was always a passionate advocate for her constituents. I fully understand that sometimes work, family and the responsibility as local representative becomes difficult to balance.

“I thank Justine for all of her hard work, and I wish her all the best in the future.

City of Darwin Interim Chief Executive, Simone Saunders, said Ms Glover’s experience effort she made on behalf of the residents of Waters Ward would be missed.

Ms Glover was re-elected as a representative of Waters Ward in August last year.

Ms Glover said the decision to leave the job was difficult.

“Sometimes you have to make the tough decisions, and this was a tough one as I have loved representing my community,” Ms Glover said.

“I have been truly honoured to hold this position.

“But it was time to get some balance back in my life.”

Ms Saunders said Ms Glover had been a highly effective Council representative who had always been willing to stand up for the interests of her constituents.

“Justine’s experience and understanding of her community will be sorely missed at Council,” Ms Saunders said.

“I am sorry to see to her to go but she has made the decision on the basis of striking a good work-life balance and I hope this turns out be a positive decision for her.”
