Ready, steady, #ShopLocal! The time has come to start collecting up your receipts from Gilgandra Region businesses, and you could be in with a chance of winning a share of $12,000 in Coo-ee Cash Cards. The first of four Christmas Shop Local draws will be Thursday, 26 November 2026.
Mayor and Economic Development Committee Chair, Cr Nick White said:
“We want to spread the Christmas cheer a little further this year, with more draws giving more people the chance to take home some Cooee Cash. These changes were made in collaboration with Council’s Economic Development Committee, with the aim of keeping people engaged, rewarding those who shop locally and continuing to support our fantastic local businesses.”
Alongside this year’s prize draws, Mayor White encouraged residents to make the most of any Cooee Cash they still have on hand by spending it at participating local businesses.
“There is still a substantial amount of Cooee Cash waiting to be spent, and we encourage cardholders to put it to good use. Spending your Cooee Cash at participating local businesses keeps money circulating within our Region and supports the businesses that support our community.”
This year, entrants must have valid receipt/s dated from 2 November to 17 December 2026 to the combined minimum value of $50 from participating businesses (Trade Promotion TP/02142). There are two ways you can enter:
1. In an official entry envelope placed into the Entry Barrel. Envelopes can be collected from Gilgandra Region businesses, Council’s Warren Road office or the GIL Library Hub.
2. Online via Council’s website, simply complete the form and upload a photo of your receipt. Visit Gilgandra.nsw.gov.au.
There will be four weekly draws on the following dates:
- Thursday, 26 November 2026 @ 10:00am – Four draws of $500 for individuals (two hard copies, two digital); one draw of $500 for businesses.
- Thursday, 3 December 2026 @ 10:00am – Four draws of $500 for individuals (two hard copies, two digital); one draw of $500 for businesses.
- Thursday, 10 December 2026 @ 10:00am – Four draws of $500 for individuals (two hard copies, two digital); one draw of $500 for businesses.
- Thursday, 17 December 2026 @ 7:00pm – Four major draws of $1,000 for individuals (two hard copies, two digital); one draw of $500 for businesses. This is the Christmas Wonderland Major Draw, and winners must be present to claim their prize.
The Entry Barrel will be located at the GIL Library Hub Plaza throughout this year’s Shop Local Christmas promotion.
Shop Local remains a key initiative under Council’s Grow Gilgandra program, proving to be a great way to recognise and celebrate the value of supporting local.

“Grow Gilgandra continues to evolve to meet changing community needs and challenges. The Economic Development Committee reviews the Shop Local program each year to build on its successes, address challenges and ensure it continues to support our local businesses.”
