Kemp Street and Service Clubs Park sporting complex master plans adopted

Two draft master plans for the Kemp Street Sports Complex and Service Clubs Park were adopted by Council at Tuesday’s meeting.

Developed with local user and sporting groups, the plans outline the current and future uses, the priorities and aspirations for both sites.

Both plans were placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days and received a total of 25 submissions.

Council’s Manager Infrastructure Delivery, Dylan Reeves, said the master plans provide for a long-term vision for the sites, ensuring any works are made in accordance with this vision.

“Although the plans are unfunded, the adoption of these masterplans allows Council to seek external funding opportunities from state or federal government bodies to roll out actions in the plans,” Mr Reeves said.

“These plans are consistent with the Macleay Valley Sports Strategy, which was adopted by Council in 2017 and in line with Council’s commitment to providing better, more inclusive sporting facilities in Kempsey.

“Thank you to everyone who provided submissions to Council during the exhibition period. Suggestions provided by the community will be taken into consideration during the detailed design phases.”

The name of Service Clubs Park was also confirmed at the meeting after the park had been subject to inconsistent naming.
