The Kyabram community, in partnership with Campaspe Shire, is developing a place-based plan to help make Kyabram an even better place to live in the future.

Campaspe Shire General Manager Community, Mr Keith Oberin, said a group of local residents is helping to with activities to engage the community and, find out what their priorities are in the areas of health, education, business, roads, transport, sport / recreation, arts / culture, employment, training, streetscapes, heritage, tourism, parks and the environment.

“A number of activities have been planned across the coming months when the community can provide input into plans for Kyabram,” Mr Oberin said.

Firstly, Kyabram residents will shortly receive a reply-paid postcard asking them what they like most about their town and what they would like to see improved.

“The postcard will provide a link to a more detailed online survey and an online discussion board where people can view other people’s ideas and suggestions,” Mr Oberin said.

In addition to capturing comments through the postcard project, a photo competition is also open and local residents of all ages are asked to submit photos of what they love about Kyabram.

“The photos will be displayed in shop windows throughout the project and help the project team understand the positive aspects of the community that need to be retained and built on,” Mr Oberin said.

In September community groups will be invited to participate in a community ‘think tank’ to workshop some of the issues and ideas expressed through the survey, postcards and one on one conversations with the project team.
