Labor focused on Tasmanians while Liberals focus on themselves

Tasmanian Labor
  • Labor focused on the things that matter to Tasmanians
  • Liberals consumed by inertia and instability
  • Labor’s commitment to creating a better, fairer Tasmania has only been strengthened by the instability consuming the Liberal Party.

The shock departure of Will Hodgman has left a leadership vacuum in the Liberal government at a critical time in the state’s history.

Labor Leader Rebecca White said despite the Liberals claiming a ‘golden age’ for Tasmania, too many people are being left behind and the benefits of good economic conditions are not being shared equally.

“Tasmania has effectively been left without a Premier at a time when surgery waiting lists are the longest in history, rents are the highest in the country and wages are the lowest in the nation.

“Labor will not be distracted by the chaos consuming the Liberal government. Our focus is on job creation and helping the people who have been left behind by the Liberals.

“Only Labor is focused on fixing Tasmania’s broken health system and long housing waiting lists, investing in roads and public transport, ensuring that Tasmanians have access to better schools and growing more full time jobs.”

“Tasmania needs a change of course, not just a change of premier.

“Unless the Government reverses its $450 million cuts to frontline services, properly funds our hospitals and health system, builds more homes for Tasmanians and does more to create more secure jobs it won’t matter who the next leader of the Liberal party is.”

“Labor is striving for a better, fairer Tasmania and an economy that works for all Tasmanians, while the Liberals are focused on themselves.”
